Equipment

  • 1 skillet
  • 1 spatula
  • 1 medium bowl
  • 1 whisk

Ingredients

  • 3 jumbo eggs or 4 large eggs
  • ½ cup milk any kind of milk
  • 1 tsp cinnamon spice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ground nutmeg
  • 4 slices challah bread, no more than an inch thick or brioche bread
  • powdered sugar
  • maple syrup
  • unsalted butter/cooking spray for the skillet

Instructions

  • Preheat a skillet on your stove to medium heat.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk and vanilla until combined. You may choose to mix in the cinnamon as well, or coat the cinnamon manually by hand.
  • Soak the bread slices thoroughly in the egg mixture. If you choose to combine the cinnamon manually, pepper the cinnamon on a plate and coat the bread with it on all sides.
  • Repeat for each slice of challah bread. When ready, grease your skillet with unsalted butter/cooking spray and put in one slice of bread.
  • Cook one side for 2 minutes or until golden-brown. Flip the slice over with a small spatula and cook for another 2 minutes or until golden-brown.
  • Serve the toast on a dish and repeat with all toast slices until finished.
  • If you want to have French toast sticks, simply cut the bread into sticks with a knife.
  • Feel free to top the toast off with anything. Powdered sugar, maple syrup, and ground nutmeg are perfect toppings.
