You can eat egg whites for their valuable nutritional benefits, but did you know you can wear them, too? Egg whites have unique mixing properties which allows them to be used as a facial mask. By using a whisk or spoon, you can whip the liquid up into a meringue and create what looks like whipped cream. By adding only a couple other ingredients, you have yourself a mixture that can now be applied to your face.
An egg white face mask has one quality that differentiates it from traditional face masks-proteins and biotin. People who wear an egg white face mask report that it helps keep their skin oil-free and clean. Apparently, the dozens of proteins found in egg whites creates a skin-tightening effect and helps absorb oil from the skin. This can be very helpful for your skin, especially those with excessively oily skin. They are mostly simple to make and can be a cost-effective, renewable way of keeping your face clean and dirt-free.
Ingredients
- Egg whites from 1 whole large egg
- 1 tablespoon of white sugar
- 2 teaspoons of cornstarch
Directions
- Mix the ingredients together in a small handheld bowl. I would recommend using a honey dipper, it makes the process much easier.
- Once fully mixed, let the mixture sit for a few minutes.
- Wash your face with warm water and apply the mixture using a cotton pad or brush.
- Leave on the skin for 15-20 minutes then rinse off with warm water. Your skin should feel tightened and clean!
